"lone wolf", a metaphor for a person who never gets along with people.
my translation: a person having noone/nothing to back her/him up
s/he needs to do everything on her/his own to survive.

s/he has friends; but not speaking their tongue
s/he is not hostile; but not being liked or hated (or never knowing if it's so)
s/he will not isolate her/himself; but obviously being othered

sociability. yes. but don't find it fit. detached? no. but show no enthusiasm.
